Cultivating Willpower and Combining Fire with Akasha

In Hermeticism, it is an important task to practice the balancing act of each element within one’s body.

This is hard for a number of reasons. The first one I can think of is that water and earth are passive, and they tend to cause one to slow down, feel, enjoy silence, and passive things. In essence, these are difficult to cultivate in our age because today’s world is so fast paced that it really requires a continued motion and momentum in order to be successful.

Slowing down and being introspective has major health benefits and is a positive practice, though it can also get in the way of us attaining certain things.

Ultimately, doing these kinds of practices can really make it challenging to succeed in the real world, because our focus is often more focused toward working in the other planes and spheres of existence outside our material plane.

If we look at bands that did really well starting out and then not so hot later on in their career, they had that fire when they began, and then they lost it over time , or at some point, getting watered down or thinking too much when they began to overly reflect on their career.

What people are craving is the fire element. That active force

Water is blissful

Air is uplifting

Earth is wise

But fire gets the job done

Fire is what manifests things more quickly and with that special charge of energy needed to initiate the motion of our wishes being projected out into the universe like the sun's rays, as it is also the bringer of life to us from the sun. It's nature is success and its future is bright.

Balance is an important virtue to have, but so is movement, activity, being something, doing things.

For me personally, when I do meditation practice it slows me down, and in a way, it really separates me out from other people in the world, or rather it alienates me from other people who don’t do that kind of work I do, because they're not able to relate real well with where I just was. In a sense I am also not being true to myself when I do these practices, because it changes who I am and honestly can be extremely counterproductive at times, and I say this, even though I like being a mage, yet I still have to face facts sometimes. Otherwise, how would I truly learn and grow.

Most importantly, meditation empties my thoughts, which in turn, destroys the momentum I had going on initially, so I have to basically start from scratch and build it up from nothing again. This can have its advantages when starting big projects though or looking to be inspired.

I look at people out there who are successful and whether we want to draw parallels to the other elements or not, those people out there who are achievers are almost always fiery without exception. They have drive that gets them what they want, done, and out of the way, and onto the next one.

One might say, that being too focused on one element would certainly indicate an imbalance, however I would dispute this, as we are living in a physical world, and where is the fire located but at the very core of this earth in our material plane.

We could be airy and debate how to do things the correct way

Be watery and let our feelings get in the way

Be earthy and go slowly

Or be fiery and get the job done right now

So now that I have said my piece on how I feel that having an abundance of the fire element in our personality is good, how do we then go about cultivating this marvelous force within ourselves?

In the work that I do, one breathes in the fire element into every pore of their body with the exception of it going into their brain or heart as these organs are quite sensitive and can possibly get damaged with a powerful enough accumulation of any kind.

I wish the world was into being balanced, but it is not. So far from it actually, that I feel it would be better to cultivate fire in a positive way, so we can help show people how to use it productively as opposed to the negative form that leads to destruction, perhaps more so than having the other elements balanced within ourselves, because far more people already have a working understanding of the fire element.

Here's how we can help other people out in this respect. The fire element already has a big sway over people, yet on a mass scale, they are not using it effectively in their own lives.

If we learn to work with the fire element in a positive way, it's constructive and will lead us to success in our own lives.

Also in the system that I practice, the Akasha or Void is considered the birth place of every element, so by mastering the Akasha (not to be confused with the Akashic Records, but rather, working with the actual force that is the akasha itself) we get mastery over every element, though primarily, if we combine the force of fire with the limitless akasha together, we can make massive improvements and progress in our own lives.

Essentially, there is a technique given where we create a ritual to affirm our mastery over every element while in the akasha, as the akasha itself manifests instantly. However it is this force of fire combined with the akasha that will help guide us to where we would like to go, quite quickly.

I have manifested things instantly simply by working the fire element into a self created ritual. One could look at the triangle of manifestation in evocation as a symbol of the fire element. Or the all seeing eye, as the sense of sight being connecting with the fire element and willpower.

So this force of fire, combined with the Akasha is what will get things done quickly in life.

My suggestion would then be to experiment and work with these forces together in order to create the life that you want. If you ever feel overwhelmed by the fire element, you can always imagine releasing it back into the universe where it came from and even doing things like walking barefoot on the ground and taking a bath in order to help remove it.

If anyone finds anything in this article particularly interesting or useful, there is much more that I can say on the element of fire and the act of using it to manifest.
